What does Chocolate and Sumatran Tiger Have in Common?

Found on the Indonesian island of Sumatra there are only approximately 400 Sumatran tigers left.  The problem is the loss of their habitat to palm oil plantations (along with poaching etc).  And the Sumatran tiger is not the only animal to be affected by this oil.

As Easter is coming up and the chocolate trade is higher than usual, I thought I would put a plea out for these beautiful animals.  Did you know there are a huge number of chocolate companies that use palm oil in their chocolate.  And, to be perfectly honest, palm oil in chocolate is yuk.  Once you've eaten a true chocolate you won't want to go back.

Unfortunately palm oil is in a lot of foods which is disappointing and I'm not about to give you a list of them.  But it is something each of us can do by supporting those companies who are not using it.

And you can begin with chocolate.
