So, Do You Like Mushrooms?

I have just read the most interesting little book called "Mushrooms For Health and Longevity" and, to say that I was amazed at the medicinal properties of these fungi would be an understatement.
It's pretty common knowledge that mushrooms are good for you....let's face it, you're pretty safe to assume that anything in the fruit or veggie department has to have some goodness, so why not mushrooms.

But I really had no idea how much these insignificant, brown/white/sometimes off white/sometimes dirty weird looking things could pack such a major punch in the health and well-being stakes.

Did you know that there is a variety of mushroom that contains the highest amount of vitamin D of all edible natural foods?  No?  Neither did I.
This same mushroom also has great beauty properties and cosmetic companies are exploring this for the elusive "youthful looking skin".

The varieties outlined in this book all had the immune boosting quality along with fighting cancer, but there are also some that, apparently, are good for dementia (prevention rather than creation), hepatitis and the nervous system not the mention the one that was ticked for sexual function.

Yup, it was a great read, so much so that I've put it on my Recommended Reading list and done a Book Review up on my website.

Oh, and if you don't like mushrooms, some of these varieties come in supplement form which is good news not only for you but for when mushrooms are hard to come by.
